Standard 100 Energy Goal Calcs
Energy Goal Calculations and Interactive
Forms (A, B, and C) for compliance with ASHRAE
Standard 100, "Energy Efficiency in Existing Buildings".
Foreword, including "Compliance Requirements";
interactive Form A, "Compliance with ASHRAE Standard
100", compliance verification and certification form;
interactive Form B, "Building Activity and Energy
Target" calculation program (particularly useful for
existing buildings with a variety of activity/tenant types and
categories); interactive Form C, "Energy Use
Reporting" for input of energy survey information and
energy usage history for the building; "Building
Activity and Energy Target", calculations, formulas, and tables;
Table B-1, "US and Canada Climate Zones", Map and
Climate Zones Tables; Table 7.3, "Building Operating
Shifts Normalization Factors"; and an extensive "Help"
file covering all of the input requirements and details.
Note: Portions of the programs, tables, and design information
include excerpts from ASHRAE 100-2006R and associated Public Comments
through Dec. 6, 2013. Final Calculations and submittals should
be verified to comply with the latest adopted version of the ASHRAE
Standard 100 for each jurisdiction.
Calculations Input Form - Form B
The primary calculations input form, Form B, should be the
first Form to be completed for every project. Building information that is inserted into this Form is automatically
transferred to other Programs for use in calculations and for
documenting project data. (Click Image to enlarge)
Compliance Verification and Certification Form - Form A
Interactive input and documentation form, Form A,
including information input cells and checkmark boxes to document
project compliance with the requirements of ASHRAE Standard 100
for Existing Building Energy goals. Form may be printed for
submission to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for the
project. (Click Image to enlarge)
Compliance Verification and Certification Form - Form C
Interactive input and documentation form, Form C,
including information input cells to document project compliance
with the requirements of ASHRAE Standard 100 for Existing Building
Energy goals. Form may be printed for submission to the
Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for the project. (Click Image to enlarge)
"Building Activity Energy Targets" Table
Building activity energy targets (EUI)t1
listed in Table 7.3 were derived from Commercial Building
Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) 2003 and Residential
Energy Consumption Survey (RECS) 2005 data by Oak Ridge
National Lab (ORNL) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)
and represent the 25th
bottom (low energy) percentile of energy use
by each building category.
"Climate Zones Map and Table"
Climate Zones Map and Climate Zones Table are required for
establishing the building Energy Target, based on the local
climate factors. Climate Zones have been established by
ASHRAE to reflect temperatures and humidity conditions for
locations in the US and Canada.
"Building Operating Shifts Normalization
Adjustments to the building Energy Targets depend on the
actual or anticipated operating schedule for each Building
Activity Type. The Energy Use Targets are adjusted based
on the number of hours that the building is operational.
Compliance Documents can be printed after completing the
calculations and can be submitted as a Compliance Record to the
appropriate Building Department or Authority Having Jurisdiction. It is recommended
that Forms A, B, and C be
printed out, to assist with Building Department review.
